Plume, the super stylish electric scooter made in Nord-Pas-de-Calais

Plume, the scooter that commands heavy. While the fuel prices have reached new heights, it has never been more relevant to think about means of transportation other than the car. This is all the more true in big cities where micromobility is developing almost as fast as the price of a barrel rises. In this niche, we will have to have a new player, French also: Pen. Based in Saint-Andréclose of lilacThis company has developed an electric scooter model that meets all the requirements of eco-responsible mobility.

Plume’s boss, Fabrice Furlan, worked for 20 years at Decathlon, mainly in the field of carbon-free mobility. Suffice it to say that he dominates the field and knows the uses and expectations of users of bicycles and other scooters. And it is in this last means of transport that he decided to undertake, but not with the idea of doing like everyone else. “The competition is very present, but France is also one of the biggest markets in this field. It is all the more absurd to see that the products offered today for eco-responsible mobility come from the other side of the world”, points out the businessman.

80% made in Nord-pas-de-Calais, 100% made in France

Consequently, Plume has heavily favored shorting. An approach that allows you to display the punctilious “Guaranteed French Origin” label. The plastic parts are molded in Famars, in the North, the electronics come from Verquin, in Pas-de-Calais, the mechanical structures and the assembly of the machine are carried out in Roubaix. “Only the batteries arrive from our supplier Gouach, in Bordeaux. It is also an option because this company offers 100% repairable and long-lasting batteries”, says Fabrice Furlan.

Repairable and durable, this is also the case with the scooter itself. The steel structure already has a 5-year guarantee. Beyond that, the entire vehicle has been designed to stand the test of time and, in the event of a problem, to be able to repair it. “All the parts are available, and most of the time, customers can even do the repairs by following the video tutorials,” says Plume’s boss. Its motor with a nominal power of 500 W, 1,000 W maximum, and its battery that oscillates at 48 V allow this scooter to carry a 120 kg person at its maximum speed (25 km/h) on a small slope without struggle. “All the components are oversized, which also contributes to the durability of the vehicle”, says the businessman.

Of course, all of this comes at a cost. Count between 1,099 and 1,399 euros depending on the chosen autonomy, 45 km or 70 km, while most competing models are below the 1,000 euro bar. But for this price, the Plume has standard equipment you won’t see anywhere else: front and rear LEDs, a real headlight, gauges, and a large digital display. “Offering a product of this quality, made in France in this price range, is a real challenge”, admits Fabrice Furlan.
