tricky news Elden Ring: a mod transforms the game into a classic 90’s RPG
How about seeing the Elden Ring in a new light? This is what youtuber Flurdeh offers with his new creation, in which he transforms the From Software game into a good old classic RPG from the 90s for a moment, simply thanks to a mod called “photomode mod”.
Indeed, elden ring is driven by an aging graphics engine, but that doesn’t stop the game from from software from perfectly fine to make his exceptional artistic direction speak for presenting us with magnificent landscapes. But that was without counting on the modding community, who set out to make it even more beautiful than it already is! Available for a few runes (sorry, a few coins) at on the patreon pagethe modifier Frans Bouma offers what we will call a “photo mod” specially designed for Elden Ring, and that allows you to do wonders. The youtuber Flurdeh has taken advantage of it to transform the universe thought by Hidetaka Miyazaki in real 90’s RPG.

How the mod works: the Tilt Shift effect
To give this old school RPG effect, the creator uses thanks to the photo mod what is called the “tilt shift” effect. This effect, also used in photography, allows a camera’s lens and image plane to to be moved and rotated independently of each other. Here, it allows the videographer to stand in a precise spot, which helps make full-size images look tiny. This change of depth in the image contributes greatly to increasing the sense of distance of the characters. and allows you to create beautiful scenes, as you can see in the video above or in the screenshots below:

Thanks to this change of camera and the “tilt shift” effect, some images in the game become almost pixelated, further accentuating that “old ’90s RPG” effect. Indeed, one has the impression of looking handmade dioramas comes to life in front of us, and thanks to this mod, even the most belligerent enemies look much less impressive.
Playing with our nostalgia, this mod leads us to dream of a Elden Ring in isometric 3D that we could play sitting cross-legged in front of our cathode-ray television, just as we could escape myths like chrono trigger either secret of mana… but a little more difficult!
Note that Flurdeh is not on her first try with this video in the Elden Ring! feel free to visit his youtube channel if you want to discover (or rediscover) cult games like God of War, breath of the wild, infinite bioshock either cyberpunk 2077.
