Twin Peaks’ David Lynch debunks speculation about a new movie

The filmmaker has been eerily quiet since the mammoth’s release. Twin Peaks: The Return until recently there were rumors that he might have a new project in the works with Jurassic World: Dominion star Laura Dern.

Lynch and Dern are longtime collaborators who worked together in particular on blue velvet, wild at heart, inner empire and, more recently, Twin Peaks: The Return.

Rumors of a new project were started by Variety reporting that Lynch would be debuting a secret project at Cannes that would either be an independent film project starring Dern or an extended pilot for a long-rumored series called glycine either unregistered night.

Lynch addressed these rumors in a conversation with entertainment weeklyinsisting that there was a misunderstanding because he will not be bringing any new projects to the Cannes Film Festival.

“I don’t have any new movies coming out,” he insisted. “That’s a total buzz. So there you have it. It’s not happening. I don’t have a project. I don’t have anything at Cannes. It’s unfortunate. It built up that people thought, ‘Oh, that would be nice.’

“But there’s something new, but it’s not mine. I don’t know whose it is. They say there’s something new at Cannes, and they don’t say whose it is, and some people thought it was my movie, but it’s not. So we’ll wait and see.” And we’ll see whose it is.”

All Lynch would say is that he is working on “painting and sculpture every day” as well as a restoration of his 1997 film. lost highway.

While it sounds like these latest reports of a Cannes debut were in error, we wouldn’t completely close the door on glycine / unregistered night or some other Lynch project in the future because the filmmaker is notoriously secretive about his work.
