Romain Mabille returns to the presidency of Collectif Ultras Paris

Romain Mabille has therefore decided to plunge back into the bath of the CUP presidency. Two years after giving way to Nicolás Boffredo, one of the founding members of the Collectif Ultras Paris is once again the president of the main PSG supporters club. Located in the bend of Auteuil and with 2,800 members, the CUP is made up of seven entities. And despite some tensions that have arisen in recent months between certain members of the Collective, Romain Mabille was elected unanimously. His predecessor Nicolás Boffredo remains one of the leaders of the Collective and is in charge of the entertainment sector and tifos.

Romain Mabille, 34, was president of the CUP from 2016 to 2020. His return comes in a rather hot period between the club’s management and its ultras who are on strike with chants since the new disappointment in the Champions League (in Last March). The president of Collectif Ultras Paris gave an interview to France Bleu Paris. he he he returns to the banners et the press release against the club’s managementthe whistles against certain players or even the PSG – OM on Sunday afternoon where he confirms that the ultras will not sing.

Why this return?

It is quite surprising to find you at the head of the CUP again, why this return!? “I confess that at first I like it! It is a position that I like and I feel that I have a duty to the members after I left the first time. At that time (2020), Nicolás Boffredo supported me by taking over and there it is my turn to support him, today I have the capacity to assume this presidency and I have total motivation, I confess that in 2020 I left the presidency with a little frustration because we had not achieved all the goals that I had set. So we’re going to try to start again on a good basis and be much more successful because we have the ability to do even better than we’ve been doing from the beginning, I think.”

What happens to Nicholas Boffredo? “Bobo maintains a central role in the CUP. He takes charge of the management of all the animation, of all the tifos.”

This Saturday morning in the team newspaperThere is talk of a split within the CUP, do you confirm it? “I would just like to point out that my election was made unanimously by the groups representing the CUP. Afterwards, surely some people are not happy with the choice made. But it seems to me that he has been on the sidelines since our office meeting. on Wednesday, I have had virtually nothing but positive feedback. It is certainly not a takeover by some people over others. The objective is to unite everyone, represent everyone, defend the rights and interests of all the people who make up the group. The goal is to really bring people together, to have one voice and to be able to get the message across to the whole gallery.

Since the elimination of PSG in the Champions League on March 9, the Collectif Ultras Paris has decided to hold a sung strike. What is your position in Sunday’s match against OM at the Parc des Princes? “I confirm it, we will be in the stands but there will be nothing new. We will remain in our positions. We remain in the same attitude as the previous matches for the simple reason that nothing has changed since our statements. There is no communication at club level that has been done. No step towards us, no announcement, no questioning. At the player level, none of them have come to us to discuss or apologize. We made a press release with demands: nothing has changed at the management level of the club, we do not feel the desire of the club to take things forward, we remain convinced of what is good, based on our affirmations and we remain in our positions because we believe that what we are asking for is only the best for the club and as a representative from the stands, we cannot be satisfied with the current situation”.

His position, for some, is incomprehensible, he is boycotting the most important match in Ligue 1 for PSG fans, against the enemy brother OM! “I listen, I can understand and that is why today we speak and we want to explain our position. PSG – OM is an important game for us in all that that entails. And you see, we are able to deprive ourselves of not singing to get our messages across. It shows that the well-being of our club matters more than this type of meeting, we are willing to ignore that. We consider our demands legitimate and we want to mark the occasion. We hope that our demands will be taken more seriously. It’s sad. We are the first upset for not singing about this end of the year. We are the first happy with the tenth title that is coming. Except that in the current situation, we cannot be happy. We prefer to punish ourselves for the good of the club and hope that things change, than to enter the stadium and pretend that nothing happened just because it is Marseille.”

We understand that there is no dialogue with management at this time. If the latter contacts you in the next few hours, could you change your mind about your attitude on the occasion of PSG – OM? “…I dont know. It depends a lot on them too because I feel that all the blame for this situation is ours. Now, you should know, since I took office, I have sent a letter to President Al-Khelaïfi in an attempt to resume dialogue, to try to find solutions. Because we are surprised, from the banners, the silence of the club. Nobody spoke. No one tried to fix things. It’s a bit of an ostrich politics where everyone stays on their side. But we are fighting to have guarantees and put an end to this movement. We will not go back if nothing has changed, otherwise this movement will have been useless. We are convinced of the validity of the movement. And we are convinced that there are things that need to be changed at PSG. We remain in our positions, but we remain totally open to dialogue and totally open to finding solutions. Tomorrow, if we can bring people back to the stadium, have a happy end to the season with the certainty that the history of the club is respected… We will be the first to return to the stadium, to celebrate a title that is close to our hearts and It is very important to us because it is not just anything. And we’re just waiting for items to be able to bring people back to the stadium.

Banners, press releases and whistles

During the PSG – Rennes match on February 11, the CUP unfurled many more or less well-felt and perceived banners about the management, the women’s section, against the players. Do you regret this? “Regrets? No, because, as I said, in our heads the anger is legitimate and there is nothing to regret because we are still very measured anyway. When I see what is happening in a large number of stadiums in France, I find that year after year, despite sporting humiliations and difficult moments, people behave quite well, there is no violence. Ok, in terms of demands, we were a bit harsh but we are spot on because we know that anything to the contrary would be counterproductive. We know that we are expected to turn around the way we express ourselves. I take this opportunity to specify that in registrations at the Parc des Princes or the Camp des Loges and regarding the Kurzawa episode (insulted by some sympathizers in the hostel camp), it is not at all the CUP that is behind all this. If we do things or take an action, we do it on our behalf, we don’t hide and I think we have shown everyone that we are responsible enough not to do everything and nothing.

In a statement after the elimination against Real Madrid, he asked for the resignation of the management and many things… Do you think that all your demands are legitimate? “C’est vrai qu’on a capé un peu fort, un peu large sur toutes les banderoles, mais c’est un cri du coeur ! C’est beaucoup de frustration à ce moment-là. Maintenant, on sait très bien que ce n’est pas parce qu’on l’a demandé que tous les gens dans l’organigramme vont changer. go. We know very well that they are not going to fire everyone because we ask. But there are real problems in the club, be it in the men’s team, in the women’s team, in the youngsters, in business management. We are waiting for answers and certainties. We cannot be satisfied with the current situation. As for President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, we are not crazy, we know the role he played in the return of supporters to the Parc des Princes. Everyone is concerned that he is less present. We are concerned to see the multitude of different mandates from him to PSG, but beware, we have not made him our priority objective. But from the moment that, for years, there are certain things that do not work in the club, we are forced to be surprised and alarmed by certain things. That’s all.”

The whistles against Messi and the violent insults against Neymar during the PSG-Bordeaux match were highlighted by the world press… “About the whistles to Messi and Neymar, it is not only the Collective that whistles… There is a part of the Parc des Princes. I think it is not personal against the players, but for what they represent. This club accumulates stars with great salaries on the field and it works more or less well. Example with Neymar, we can see that on the field, he doesn’t return what we give him. We watch the matches in Brazil and see what he is doing in Paris. And it’s frustrating. The Neymar that we have in Paris is not the real Neymar! And about Messi, of course we are happy to have Messi at PSG, but we want a Messi who makes PSG shine. That’s all, year after year, they tell us good news, great players, great things, but basically, we’re not making much progress. That’s the problem.”
