In a fiery, breathless and sometimes unbreathable derby, Lensois, who made the difference in the first half, won a prestigious victory at the hated neighbor’s ground (1-2). Better, they take the opportunity to return to Lille and maintain their dream of Europe. For their part, the Mastiffs are on the verge of a nervous breakdown, and in the Pierre-Mauroy stand we again ask for Gourvennec’s resignation.

Small lens 1-2
Boots: Xeka (45me+1) for Mastiffs // Frankowski (4me), Kalimuendo (37me) for Blood and Gold
From the mining area to Flanders, this season is definitely that of Blood and Gold. For the third time in as many clashes this season (two in the league, one in the cup), Franck Haise’s men were able to escape. A historic victory -the first in Lille since 2003- that bears the stamp of a formation with a certain character, against a Lille that only tried to come back for half an hour.
Kalimuendo, c’est quali
This Saturday night quickly seemed like the perfect plan for the Franck Haise cabal. Far less self-conscious than last season when they were thrashed in a closed-door Pierre-Mauroy (4-0), the Lensois plan to start. Four minutes are enough for Frankowski, the providential man of the first leg (1-0 against Bollaert) to shower the heat of the second leg at Lille. Only at the second post after a corner from Clauss, also very animated, the Polish piston licks his right outside (0-1, 4me). The 2,000 supporters of Lensois, camouflaged by the travel ban, explode. His protégés, well aided by a Lille midfielder who was quickly taken aback (Benjamin André has often been invisible), continue their express transitions. Clauss provokes, Kalimuendo recovers the leather, but Leo Jardim watches the vein (20me).
Lille finally decides to fight back. Then he opens a great uninhibited quarter of an hour. On the counter, Renato Sanches, who warmed up to his counterpart Gradit, finds Faríñez’s left post (21me). The artesian porter is then deployed in front of the Zhegrova praline (24me), the Kosovar international, for the first time in the eleven of Lille, a week after his first pawn in Ligue 1. Kalimuendo tries to reply, but falls into Leo Jardim’s trap again (26me), which is still flying when Fofana thought she had found the opposite skylight (33me). Lens continues to insist (7 shots on goal in the first half), and the third is good for Kalimuendo (10me goal of the season) whose shot inside the area is deflected by Fonte after another Lille turnover (0-2, 37me). LOSC is down and has just conceded more goals in 37 minutes than in the last eight games. Dogue Virage Est Launch “wet the shirt” and Xeka, perfectly positioned at the second post, rekindles the flame of a derby that turned for the Mastiffs (1-2, 45me+1).
Anger rises in Lille
Much better in their pumps, Lille finally got the hang of Lensoise’s defense in the second half. The waves break as much as a high tide day. David comes out of the forest (52me53me), Bamba forces Faríñez to drop the starter (53me) and Pierre-Mauroy raises the cursor. Onana’s entry that came to support David broadens Gourvennec’s offensive palette. Bamba can’t find the frame (61me63me) and Zhegrova steps forward with both hands after touching the forehand Lensois (67me). Franck Haise takes the Ganago cartridge out of the bank and Lens finds colors. Medina squeezes his head too tight (74me), then it is Fofana who will touch the stars (77me).

But fitting in with their ambitions for just twenty minutes in a derby that was supposed to last 90 minutes was clearly not enough for Lille. And the last quarter of an hour, despite the entrances of Weah and Pied, will have been above all that of a formation whose prosperous period (4 wins, 4 draws until the derby) does not reflect in any way the level of play of a suitor to Europe. And while the DVE sent “Gourvennec resignation” while slightly forcing access to the grass, Lens, which continues to advance masked, is now three points behind Monaco. All while he retains his throne of king of the north this season.
Purple (4-2-3-1) : Garden – Celik (Pied, 79me), Fonte, Djaló, Gudmundsson (Bradarić, 23me) – Xeka (Onana, 53 years old)me), André – Bamba, R. Sanches, Zeghrova – David (Weah, 79me). Trainer : Jocelyn Gourvennec.
Lens (3-4-1-2) me), Frankowski – Peireira Da Costa (Saïd, 92me) –Kalimuendo (Ganago, 67)me), Sotoca (Cahuzac, 85me). Trainer : Frank Hayse.
